The force is strong with this one

If this was a personal list this would be number 1 as it is from my favorite Trilogy of all time Star Wars, more specifically "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back".

Ill try to keep it short as I could talk about Star Wars for hours. I would put the whole Trilogy on here, but sadly the Original movie: "A New Hope" was made in 1977 so not from the 80s, and as for "Return Of The Jedi"...I can only put one movie per spot.

The Empire Strikes Back is one of those movies that really live up to expectations. It's one of the best squeals ever created and added more to what was told in the original story. The film still stars its original cast of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa, Anthony Daniels as C-3P0, James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, and Alec Guinness as Ben Kenobi (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as well as ORIGINALLY introducing 4 new characters. Lando Calrissian played by Billy Dee Williams, Boba Fett byed by Jeremy Bulloch, Clive Revill as The Emporer, and one of the most iconic in pop culture Yoda played by Frank Oz.

The reason I say "originally" is because over the years George Lucas had made changes to these movies, but that's a whole different discussion.

The movie is in the same style as A New hope and opens up with An Imperial attack on a rebel base on the planet Hoth. We see new vehicles such as rebel snow speeders and Imperial AT-AT's with a creative way to take them down .the rebels use cables to wrap around the legs of the AT-AT's to make them fall making them immobile.

The rebels escape and Luke finds himself going to Dagobah a swamp planet. Luke goes here after getting a vision from Ben Kenobi saying this is where he will meet Yoda to finish his training. After crashing onto Dagobah Luke finds a small confused green creature. This creature keeps annoying Luke and disturbing him making Luke upset and impatient. The green creatures tone of voice changes as he talk to Ben revealing himself to be Yoda only acting different to teach Luke Patience. Luke starts his Jedi training with Yoda where he learns his force abilities as well as "Do or Do Not, there is no Try".

During this we see Han, Leia, Chewie, and C-3P0 trying to scape imperial ships through an astroid field. This is a great transition as so much is happening. Han and Leia show chemestry as well as their first kiss. We see the emperor for the first time revealing to Darth Vader that Luke is the son of Anakin Skywalker, and our first glimpse at Cloud City and meeting Lando.

There's a lot to cover in this movie, but its actually easy to follow. Which makes them enjoyable, we are attached to these characters and the story itself. Many plots are taking place and its important to pay attention as they all come back around.

On Dagobah Luke is meditating and has a vision of the future of what to happen to his friends and tries to help them. Ben and Yoda warn Luke that he is not ready to face Vader due to his training not being finished, and he will find a terrible truth. Luke promising to return to complete the training takes off with R2 to help aid his friends.

Han and Leia were set up by Lando who was threaten by Darth Vader to trap them. Lando's betrayal against his friends leads to Han getting frozen in carbonate.

This scene alone is gorgeous as we see Han strapped up unsure if hes going to live. We see the despair in Chewie's growls and the fear in Leia's. Han orders Chewie to stay strong and to watch over Leia. Han and Leia share their iconic exchange "I Love You" "I know" before he is frozen and taken by Boba Fett to give to Jabba The Hutt.

Luke arrives at Cloud City to duel Vader. The atmosphere is dark, the music is lowered, and its easy to see Luke is outmatched. Luke manages to hold his own, but is pushed to the edge of the railing where his hand is cut off. Luke backs away closer the the edge with Vader trying to persuade him ti join him.

Here the audience is at the edge of their seat as we are worried of what will happen to Luke. Just when we couldn't take anymore Vader gives us the most surprising plot twist in movie history. No spoilers here, but it's something you can only truly experience once.

Luke makes the bold choice and falls to the deeps of the city. Lando having helping Leia and Chewie escape to make up for his actions also help them take back the Millennium Falcon where they rescue Luke with the force connecting him and Leia.

The film closes with Luke getting a robotic hand, Lando leaves with Chewie to go look and bring back Han. Luke is left wondering if Darth Vader really is his father and why Ben hadn't told him.

Leaving the audience wanting more, demanding answers like "WHAT ABOUT HAN"? and let me tell you now, the next movie Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi, does not disappoint.
