Roads, where we're going we don't need roads

Was there any surprise to this choosing

The number 1 spot is......Back to the Future, This movie is the definitive of classic, loved by many and can be enjoyed by everyone.

Back to the future is a movie that has everything Romance, comedy, drama, foot tapping music, and action.

We are introduced to Marty McFly (Micheal J Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), one of the most iconic duo's in cinema. The lovely Lea Thompson as Lorraine Baines, Crispin Glover playing the dorky George Mcfly, and Thomas F Wilson playing the bully Biff Tannen.

For Romance you have Marty and his girlfriend Jennifer Parker (Claudia Wells). She supports Marty through thick and thin and boosts his confidence whenever he feels small, but that's not the relationship I'm talking about. When introduced to Marty's parents we see a loser George being harassed by biff  and can't stand up for himself. For Lorraine we see her as a little chubby alcoholic.

When Marty goes back in time we see his parents before thy met and Marty accidentally interferes with their first meeting making his teenage mom fall for him. So Marty has to figure out how he can get his parents together before he cease to exist. He attempts to do this by remembering a story his parents told him of how they first kissed and fell in love at their high school Enchantments Under The Sea dance.

For comedy there are over the top acts, these mostly come from the talented Christopher Lloyd, he gives Doc Brown his personality, your stereotypical mad scientist. He is always making crazy inventions and making models of how his plan will work. He even has his famous catch phrase "Great Scott!". Another person responsible for laughs is young George McFly, he's goofy, dorky, trips over himself, and he is actually pretty entertaining to watch trying to take Marty's advice on how to get Lorraine.

The movie is filled with drama  because its a race against time, no pun intended. Marty's and his siblings are slowly being erased and we can see this happening due to a family picture Marty keeps in his wallet. At the same time he's working with past Doc to get the DeLorean back and running to catch lightning on Saturday to generate the 1.21 gigawatts to get him back to 1985. Biff is another factor, his big broad body is intimidating compared to George, he's always trying to get somewhere with Lorraine even though she is clearly not interested.

Now I say music for a personal reason, yeah you have your standard 50s songs like Mr. Sandman , but Marty is actually a guitarist for his band "The Pinheads". This really shines when he has to fill in as a guitarist so the band can preform Earth Angel so his parents has music to dance to and George can make his move. Then right after another AMAZING scene, Marty plays Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry. Its actually clever as the singer is Chuck's cousin and he calls him up implying this is where he got inspiration from. The whole school stops and stares because they dislike the music.

Here Marty responds to a crowd and this line is still relevant to this day "I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it".

Stay with me now as this gonna going to be kinda a mess. Action the film starts with our first demonstration of the DeLorean where Doc getting shot by terrorist when he steals plutonium as that what makes time travel possible. Marty has escaped the terrorist by using the Time machine to go to November 5th 1955 the day Doc invented time travel, this is all thrown at us in the first 30 minuets.

Now we have the scene where in 1955 Marty punches Biff and rides around on the first skateboard while trying to avoid getting hit by Biff's car. Marty outsmarts them when he is right at the hood and sends Biff and his goons crashing into a manure pile.

George standing up to Biff when he needs to protect Lorraine. We feel a great joy because we see the dork that we was become confident and a man. I wont go too much into detail on where it happens because to experience this you have to watch the film your self, and I guarantee you will smile every time.

With Marty going back to the future with the lighting it it truly movie magic. The DeLorean speeding down the street, Doc brown trying to connect the wires last minuet as they have come unloose, , all of this with that John Williams core gives the audience chills as they literally only have one shot at this.

Its so satisfying to watch the Delorean disappear leaving before fire tracks in the road, causing doc to yell and celebrate in the street.

When Marty returns home we see his family has changed for the better. His father is a confident successful author, his mom is thin and healthy, even his siblings are more successful then from what we seen in the beginning, even the mall name has changed. Doc reappears and tells Marty and Jennifer that they have to come with him to the future to help their kids. Before the credits roll doc says the iconic line "Roads, where we're going we don't need roads" as we see the DeLorean start to fly from his earlier trip to the future.

Here's the catch, this being a time travel movie as mentioned earlier things are different upon Marty's arrival back home. Little details have changed in 1985 and little Easter eggs are scattered in the 1955 scenes. Yes this film is beloved by many including myself, but this just shows that even in these old movies there is always something to find with each watch.
